Staalduinen Logistics Successfully Goes Live with Boltrics TMS as New Foundation for Transport Administration

Maasdijk – Staalduinen Logistics has successfully gone live with Boltrics TMS, establishing a future-proof foundation for its transport administration. With this implementation, the logistics service provider replaces its existing system and expands its collaboration with Boltrics from solely WMS to now also TMS. This creates one integrated and scalable foundation for order registration, financial processing, and the integration with the planning system (APS).

Specialist in Liquid Logistics

Staalduinen Logistics is a logistics service provider based in Maasdijk with more than 100 years of experience in the transportation and storage of liquids. The company specializes in the transport and storage of products including lubricants, liquid fertilizers, and AdBlue. Staalduinen operates its own fleet of more than 80 trucks, manages tank storage consisting of over 200 tanks, and provides additional logistics services. In addition, the company operates a 25,000 m² warehouse that is already supported by the Boltrics WMS.

From this specialized market position, Staalduinen serves a broad range of industrial customers, including oil and energy companies, for whom accurate registration, communication, and reporting are essential.

A New Foundation for Administration and Integrations

The search for a new TMS was initiated by the phase-out of the existing system. At the same time, Staalduinen was looking for a solution capable of functioning as the link between the administrative process and the existing planning system.

“Due to the phase-out of our previous TMS, we had to look for a new solution to support our transport processes. However, we did not want a simple one-to-one replacement of the application. Instead, we wanted to take a step toward the future with a solution that aligns with our current IT landscape. With Boltrics, we found a platform that fulfills exactly that role: it supports order entry and financial processing, while integrating seamlessly with our existing planning system,” says Natascha van Staalduinen, Business Development Manager at Staalduinen Logistics.

“In addition, integrating the TMS and WMS into one system offers several advantages, such as consistent workflows, streamlined processes, and a recognizable, professional appearance toward our customers. Furthermore, we can now offer an integrated web portal that provides customers with real-time insight into all relevant information and the status of both their transport and warehouse orders.”

New Functionalities Designed for Daily Operations

During the implementation project, several new functionalities were introduced to better support Staalduinen’s specific way of working. These functionalities are now available to all users within the TMS.

For example, after the delivery of each order, EDI messages are sent to various customers, including data such as the unloaded quantity. To support this process, Events and Milestones were added within the TMS, combined with an ETA communicator. This makes it possible to indicate in advance within which time window a delivery is expected.

Additionally, silo addresses were introduced, providing insight per location into which tanks and products are present, where they are located, and their capacities. Locations can also be enriched with additional information such as coordinates. Furthermore, transport equipment can now be registered per address, making it immediately clear which resources are required for a specific tank installation.

“The addition of silo addresses and the ability to register specific equipment per location were important requirements from our side, because this is one of our company’s unique selling points. We provide this information to our drivers while they are on the road, helping to prevent unnecessary mistakes on-site. That is essential in an industry where precision and safety come first,” says Natascha.

The implementation required close collaboration between the Staalduinen team and the Boltrics consultants, combining in-depth process knowledge with technical expertise. This partnership made it possible to respond quickly and introduce targeted optimizations throughout the project that aligned with the specific operational requirements.

“During the project, it became clear that our way of working placed specific demands on the system in several areas. This sometimes required a different way of thinking within the project team. There were moments when we needed to sit down together for a bit longer to arrive at the right solution. At the same time, we saw that new functionalities could be introduced quickly. Ultimately, this resulted in solutions that strongly support our processes and provide a stable foundation for the future development of our company,” says Natascha van Staalduinen.

With the go-live of Boltrics, Staalduinen Logistics has established a future-proof and integrated foundation for both transport and warehouse processes. As a result, the administrative handling and communication surrounding transport operations are now seamlessly connected to the existing WMS operation.
