Our update approach is changing. And that’s good news. Because as a logistics service provider, you want to benefit from the latest technology, without updates hindering your processes. Our new update cycle puts you in control. As of now, you can plan your own update, within a window of 2 to 8 weeks. So, you stay up to date, at your moment of choice. In this blog we explain what will change for you as a customer and why.

From fixed cycles to flexible planning

Until now, SaaS customers automatically received updates every four weeks. This ensured timeliness but might not always be convenient. Our new approach offers flexibility.

Why this change?

At Boltrics, we believe that software should support, not hamper. You need to have grip on your processes, and that includes updates. Previously, these updates were planned at an inconvenient time: either during peak periods, understaffing or internal changes. At the same time, the number of users of our solution is growing rapidly. Therefore, we need an update process that is not only stable and predictable, but also flexible enough to fit your business. Broadening the update window and allowing you to choose the moment of updating yourself allows you to better tune your operations. Without sacrificing continuity or innovation.

Unique in the market: updating without disruption

You benefit from the power of a standard SaaS solution without being tied to rigid update schedules. Where other providers either do not provide guidance or update unexpectedly, Boltrics opts for balance: you determine the right moment, within a clear framework. This allows you to remain flexible and benefit faster from new functionalities, based on best practices from other Boltrics users. You stay up to date, at your convenience.

What does this mean for Boltrics clients?

You can easily schedule your updates yourself with this new functionality. Also, you can now easily view all upcoming releases. It is now no longer possible to cancel updates. The environment in which you test your update is identical to the actual update environment. Therefore, you will not encounter any surprises. There is one exception: if changes are made in the production environment after the test environment has already been released, a discrepancy may occur between the two. What does this mean for clients of local Boltrics resellers?

For customers of local Boltrics resellers, you now get more control of your update. With the arrival of our new platform 3PL Qlane, you – in addition to your local reseller – will have access to your updates, tests and release environment. Once you are added by your local reseller as an update contact, you can schedule your own updates. If you are not yet signed up as an update contact, you can view updates but not schedule them yourself.

Prefer to update automatically?

Would you prefer to update automatically? No problem. Then you don’t have to do anything and update every 4 weeks: everything remains the same as you are used to.

What do you need to do?

You can schedule you updates following these steps: A customer of a local Boltrics reseller must first be registered by the reseller as an update contact before you can schedule updates.

  1. Your organization’s key user is already registered as an ‘update contact’. This person has the rights to schedule updates. Log in to Business Central and search for ‘Boltrics Customers’.
  2. Select the ID-number of the organization for which you would like to change the scheduled updates. Set the opened menu to full screen for overview.
  3. Choose a Boltrics update from the offered updates and then click on ‘Reschedule update’. If the update has already been performed, you can no longer reschedule it.
  4. In the next overview, choose a new date for the update.
  5. What to be aware of when changing the update dates:
    a. The TEST environment is automatically moved to 7 days before the new update.
    b. Do you choose an update time that is less than 7 days ahead (counting from the time of scheduling)? Then the test period will begin immediately, and the TEST environment will be available for a limited time.
    c. If you already approved the TEST environment, there will be no more actions.
