Data is knowledge. Knowledge is power. The more information you have, the better you handle your data, the more efficiently you can optimize your processes. And the better you can serve your customers. Information such as waybills and travelled distance is crucial when dealing with inconsistencies. Our new Message Configurator and Device Activity framework make managing this data more flexible and efficient than ever, ensuring you stay ahead in a demanding market.

On-board computer integration

To have as much information as possible available in your TMS, it is necessary to link the on-board computers in the (freight) vehicles. On-board computers record important information about travelled distance, driving and rest periods and digital waybills. All this (real-time) information about the trips can be used directly to improve control and optimize planning in case of irregularities. In addition, the information provides insight for better service to your customers.

The new Message configurator

Controlling the on-board computers can now be done in an extremely flexible way. You now have the possibility to configure question paths and workflow controls via our new Message configurator. This allows the creation of Device Tasks. The transport process begins with the quick and efficient management of the driver. Depending on the type of on-board computer or device in the car, different message flows can be configured.

The Device Activity framework – reliably handle your data

The Device Activity framework was created to handle all this information in a uniform way. All that is required is to externally map the incoming message to the standard RCV-DEVICE-ACTIVITY message, for example via our Datahub. This message contains activities that have taken place, with associated events. A loading activity where a signature was made and damage occurred to a pallet could look like the following:

From the moment this message is received, it is your turn to act. It is possible to handle the mapping from external references to internal references in the way you set up. Then you can associate different processing functions to the different types of activities. For example, an irregularity can be automatically created for the pallet with damage and the signature can be linked to the corresponding order. This way, you have all the information directly at hand in the right place.

Invest in automation and technology

The logistics industry has proven to be a star to achieve results in a demanding market. However. the industry is more than ever under tremendous pressure. Moving goods from A to B – while dealing with unpredictable circumstances. Congestion on the road, poor weather predictions, the rising cost of fuel, and a labor market pushed to its limits. All while handling higher expectations of delivery times and service quality. There is no time for slacking. In our white paper, “Digitize to Stay Relevant”, we give you concrete examples of how to address these issues.
