The transportation industry faces big challenges. From driver shortages to government regulations. Do you want to keep operating successfully? Then, you will have to reduce costs and save time by focusing on efficiency. However, it is that efficiency that is pressured by unpredictability in the supply chain, growth in the number of smaller shipments, and even Brexit. In addition, labor shortages will keep growing in the next years, increasing the need for a strong cloud-based Transport Management System even more.

At Boltrics, we understand this need. And we gladly help you forward. That is why, over the recent period, we invested in new features of the TMS. And, why we are committed to applying even more enhancements that match your needs as a transporting company. In this blog, we share three realized developments from recent TMS projects.

Higher performance

First of all, a lot of time has been invested in improving the performance of the software solution. Not only technically but also functionally. These developments make sure the TMS application performs (even) better. To its full extent. The application loads data faster and has a clear UI. Thanks to the introduction of the modern action bar, the system now works more intuitively. With it you can order functions and actions yourself in a way that is logical to your processes.

3 new TMS functionalities

As a customer of Boltrics, you are familiar with the peloton philosophy. Part of that philosophy is that we continuously improve the branch standard together by making new developments from ongoing projects available for all other logistics service providers that work with 3PL Dynamics. And that resulted, among other things, in the following new TMS functionalities:

1. Planning worksheet

With the planning worksheet, it becomes possible to compile TMS routes into proposal journeys. These journeys can be supplemented with orders that are expected to arrive but are not yet available. As a result, a preliminary planning can be made that already offers a lot of insights. Ultimately, these proposals can be continued to final journeys.

2. Irregularities

When you are active in transportation, you have to handle all kinds of irregularities arising from the implementation of the transport. For example, when customers are not available for delivery, the address is unavailable or unknown, or goods are damaged or missing. This feedback can be shared with the customer service of the transport department via the onboard computer (or by telephone). From here, the customer service employee can process these irregularities and immediately initiate follow-up actions. In 3PL Dynamics, the first basis for this functionality has now been developed.

3. Periodic customer updates

It is now possible to send automatic periodic updates to your customers. Via the communication planning and planning rules functionality, you can periodically inform customers about the status of orders. Think of expected ETAs or delivery statuses.

Coming soon!

Developments in the TMS module of 3PL Dynamics are far from finished. Soon, the possibilities are expanded with ‘Cash on delivery’ and GEO coding via job queues, which improves the performance and reliability of the data. Furthermore, you can expect a new board computer API framework, enabling board computer integrations to be maintained better and in a more flexible way. And, multiple developments are scheduled on TMS Contracts. From contract clauses and discounts in freight rates, to visualization and publication. So, stay tuned for more new functionalities!
