OSCOT, one of the most important transportation KPIs

Not too long ago I orderer some office supplies via the webshop of a well-known retail chain. Which one exactly is not necessarily important, no need to smear. Despite the fact that I had placed the order well in advance – about a week before I needed the supplies – the retailer did not succeed in delivering the articles on the desired day. Or in fact, the logistics service provider that works for the retailer did not manage to deliver on time. However, in many cases end consumers will not blame the transporter, but the company where they ordered the product. But you know: on their turn they will knock on your door about this. If this happens too often, there is a chance that you will lose a customer. And all because you did not meet one of the most important transportation KPIs, OSCOT: Orders Shipped Complete on Time.
Service Level Agreements (SLA)
As a transporter you want to achieve a certain quality level. You set goals for this and make agreements with your customers. In these so-called Service Level Agreements (SLA) you contractually establish with your client which quality requirements you have to meet. Your customers expect you to comply with your SLAs and deliver orders quickly, completely and efficiently. And you want to keep your good name and deliver the quality you stand for. All very self-evident, because this is exactly the reason why you started this business deal. Ultimately, you and your client have the same goal: a guarantee of timely and complete deliveries.
Transportation KPI: Orders Shipped Complete On Time (OSCOT)
Research that Boltrics did in the past showed that this goal is one of the most important KPIs for logistics providers. Besides the turnover rate, occupancy rate, and three others that we will elaborate on, Orders Shipped Complete On Time turned out to be very important. This KPI with the acronym OSCOT gives you as a transporter instant insight in the performance you deliver. Does it seem like you are not going to meet your Service Level Agreements? Then it is necessary to improve your processes. But where exactly? How can you be certain that your actions will have a positive effect?
Power BI dashboards and reports for transportation KPIs
In order to be able to make the right decisions, first of all a piece of insight into your processes is required. You do this first of all by being closely involved with your own organization and knowing what is going on. You also help yourself by having insightful reports in your surroundings. With Boltrics’ standard reports for logistics service providers in Power BI you have the most relevant information sources for transporters around you. For example, you have insight in the revenues and costs per truck, driver, customer or service. Or you know exactly which activities are successful in which regions. So do you no longer meet certain quality requirements (such as OSCOT) for a particular customer? Put it next to one of these dashboards and draw your own conclusions.
Meet your SLA, realize OSCOT and go for BI
